Laser materials
Nature of Materials
Luminescent materials (powders, crystals, glasses,
vitro-ceramics and ceramics) of oxides and fluorides doped with rare
earth ions, transition metal ions or mercury-like ions, mainly laser
materials.
Undoped and doped-nonlinear crystals for Second
Harmonic Generation (SHG), Frequency summation (FS), Frequency
doubling (FD) or Raman shifters.
Type of research
Crystal growth techniques: Czochralski,(CZ),Laser Heated
Pedestal Growth (LHPG),Floating crystal.
Structural
characterizations: X-ray Diffractometry, Optical and Electronic
Microscopy, AFM, Raman spectroscopy.
Transient and steady-state
spectroscopic characterizations :absorption, excitation,
emission, decays of fluorescence in UV, visible, IR, by using CW and
pulsed tunable laser spectroscopy techniques as Time-Resolved
Spectroscopy, Site-selective Spectroscopy, Fluorescence Line
Narrowing Spectroscopy, Excites-State Absorption, Two-Photon
Absorption.
Processes involved in excited state dynamics, energy
transfers, up and down conversions.
Relations between structures
and optical properties: luminescence centers as structural probes
(isolated centers, dimers and pairs).
Models for processes and interactions.
Laser tests and nonlinear generations into pumping
with lasers, laser- diodes and flash-lamps
